Welcome back Divers!

Flying TigerWelcome back Glenwood dive families! Winter is finally over, the pollen is falling, the kids are going stir-crazy and I find myself searching for poolside potluck recipes to share at our dive meets.

We hope you have had a chance to register your returning divers, and are looking forward to our first potluck, this Tuesday, May 26 from 6 -7:30pm. It will be a great opportunity to catch up, talk about the season and answer questions for new families.

We wanted to also give a shout out to our 2014 All Stars, Kathryn Wagner 8 and under (5th place), Stephanie Sparks 9-10 (11th place), Dermot O’Kelly 13-14 (3rd place) and Sheridan O’Kelly 15-18 (8th place.) Glenwood finished the season 4th in Division 1. Way to go Glenwood Divers! Please read below for information about our amazing and talented coaching staff.

Our Coaching Staff

We are pleased to welcome back, for his fifth year, Head Coach Noah Ehrenberg. Noah brought the Glenwood dive team up to Division 1 after his first year, and his coaching has kept us here ever since. When he is not busy coaching our Glenwood divers, Noah is a National Team Assistant Coach and Human Springs Coach. He joined MDC in the Fall of 2013 after several very successful years coaching in the MCDL. He brings a unique style to the pool deck and is quickly building a fan base of divers and parents alike who love his approach to coaching. Noah apprenticed under National Training Center Coaches in Indianapolis as well as the top coaches at City of Midland, Texas. We are thrilled to have Noah back for another year and hope many families will take advantage of our nationally recognized coach, and come join the dive team.

Also returning for her second year as assistant coach at Glenwood is Alessandra Barone. Prior to working as assistant coach, Alessandra was a member of Glenwood’s dive team and was a coach in training. She started diving when she was 12 years old and continued diving throughout her high school career. Alessandra was captain of the dive team at the Academy of the Holy Cross her senior year. She is currently a junior at St. John’s University in Queens, NY and just finished a semester studying abroad in Rome. She is majoring in Criminal Justice and is a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Alessandra is excited to be back coaching again at Glenwood and cannot wait for a fun filled summer at the pool! She hopes to see many old faces along with many new ones this year!

Sheridan O’Kelly will be joining the Glenwood dive staff for her second year. Sheridan began her diving career at Glenwood at the age of six. She soon realized that she was passionate about the sport and started taking lesson year round, first at GWU and then MDC. Sheridan is a rising junior at Walter Johnson HS. She has participated on the WJ Swim and DIve team for two years and the WJ soccer team. Sheridan is also a member of Bethesda Fusion U17 soccer club. She loves working with kids and looks forward to another great summer coaching with Noah and Alessandra.
